Muriel’s Place helps people overcome addictions to intoxicants and cope with life’s stresses.  Evaluate an addicted person’s physical and mental behaviors, addictive behaviors and openness to treatment, which is the first step in writing an appropriate treatment plan.  Next, develop the client’s treatment and recovery plans, as well as identify behaviors that interfere with both processes Depending on the complexity of the problem, a substance abuse counselor may call in other professionals, such as psychiatrists and social workers.


A mental health counselor who often treat patients with some sort of addiction such as alcoholism or addiction to drugs, including prescription drugs and illegal substances.  The focus of treatment is on helping the patient recognize the problem, understand its triggers and modify their behaviors in an effort to recover.  Mental health counselors might coach a patient in maintaining recovery success.  

Mental health counselors often work with patients on a one-on-one basis, but also in a group setting, allowing patients to benefit from peer input in addition to the counselor’s treatment, may consult and coordinate with medical professionals to ensure that their patients get the care and treatment that’s right for their mind and body.

  • Co-Occurring disorders

  • Hydrocodone addiction

We also offer Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for

heroin-opioid abuse, to help our clients find freedom.  

We use Suboxone as a key part of our MAT program to

help our clients reduce and then stop substance abuse.
